I've really lost interest in hip hop, most-likely because I just grew older, have been away from north america for too long and don't really smoke weed anymore... a couple of mates in amsterdam were very much into it still so I'd keep up but only with the Stones throw stuff, which really, doesn't get me too excited anymore... It sounds exactly the same as it did 10 years ago, and that's ok, but it sorta feels like a dead horse is being beaten.. Different strokes though, for a new generation there is some good stuff out there, for those of us in our mid-30s, it's just the same old, same old, you go to the shows and it's the same thing, the same "old school" tunes, the classic breaks, etc.. * yawn
The only albums that I've really liked as of late were the spank rock and amanda blank albums because the production was interesting and much more party-club oriented while still keeping things lyrically pretty tight...
