Hello all. I've spent the few days cleaning up my portfolio and relaunching my blog. Feedback as always is appreciated.

Too many fonts, words, colors, etc...a bit too busy for me. IMO I'd simplify it...a lot.

For 19 year old it's not bad;) Having said that, if you want to make it better -
-Remove the beveled header background
-Remove the "I'm a fan of 37 signals" highlighting gimmick
-Remove the colored backgrounds for the headers, there are two many colors here
-Get rid of Verdana/ use Arial or Helvetica
-Create better hierarchy in the type by adding elements like text headers etc. (Cufon works nicely here)

Heirarchy is a bit challenging throughout. Margins feel tight, as if you were pushing pixels to cram in the loads of useless, blog-like info you've included.
Your work has a widely disparate range of quality as well. Some of your print pieces are outright awful. I also seriously doubt that anyone will take the time to read the boat-loads of copy you have regarding each project either. I would narrow it down to maybe 2 paragraphs, max. Also, I sort of expect to see large images AFTER I click the project thumbnail and not have to click into yet another thumb, that opens up a lightbox.
I'll be brutally honest: It looks as if you've got some solid chops but formally it's all a bit lacking. I think if you tightened up the composition overall, refined and pared down what you want to show people the site could be really dynamite. Until then it's all just a bit too much to want to sift through.

I'd like to second ukit's comment about being 19... good stuff - I only wish I had this much to show for myself back then... that being said...
... everything stated above. :) Specifically - way too busy... also that main header image is painful to look at - too many lines / lack of balance / blah blah...
... overall - needs more 'less'. :)

oh... you can definitely kill loads of your work too - the bad stuff just makes the good stuff... look bad.

— The header image is too busy, too many things to focus on. Maybe have one featured project at a time and have it cycle through the rest?
— I would take out your age. And just say your are a freelancer. To some potential clients your age might scare them away. Just my two cents on that though. Most won't care, but it might be an issue to some.- Plus you'll end up getting $6 an hour.fyoucher1
- Yup and what fyoucher1 said too.

1 idea at a time- I feel like this project overwhelmed you. maybe start by making all the text 1 color- go from there. make it work as 1 color before adding 20. also, I would imagine you would want the work link to be the first link in your nav, no? too textbooky for me, but if that's your audience push it all the way don't half ass it.
nice start!

no one wants to hear that you've had a slow year and are desperate for work
