Is it possible?

with a font that has small cap glyphs, why not?

not by default.
you could write some code, there might be classes like that around if you look
the cs5 type editor is insane, tons and tons of functionality so maybe in there.

would this not completely depend upon the font and where the small cap glyphs reside?

A basic thing in a program that has been around for ages.

i can't seem to find it... in photoshop its easy cause its in the subscript panel where the character properties is... the only thing you can do in flash is setting faux bold/faux italic...
code the only way?

Can you faux hyperlink in Flash CS5?
- lvl_130
i don't think it's possible. anytime i have to use small caps i just create 2 text fields one with initial cap then second field at smaller point size. the ghetto tech method :)

i have a hack if you have a font with actual small cap glyphs. to get around inaccessible glyphs in the past, i've opened the font in fontforge and moved them around and exported a new font. you could in theory create a version with small caps in place of the regular caps. this is however likely illegal depending on the font.

write a little script that indents the first two lines of a text box... and then create another text box w/a font placed at the same x, y position w/ a larger font...
... put this into it's own little class and you can use it over and over again...
... outside of that... nah... don't think it's a setting in Flash.

Could you do the type in Illustrator, and then cut and paste them into the Flash?
(Just brainstorming here; I've never done it; I don't use small caps; they look like hen's teeth.)

what is 'faux hyperlinking'?
you can do normal hyperlinking in flash... in a textfield
*confused :)

I've never had to implement this (thankfully), but I think you could fake this with the limited CSS support flash offers. First you would need to bring it in all this dynamic text and wrap the first letter of each word with something like <span class="first"></span>. I guess you could do this after you've brought this text in with some regex stuff. Then .toUpperCase that entire string and drop into a dynamic text field as htmlText. Then apply the css to the textField and give the .first a much larger font-size than the rest of the text in that dynamic textfield. Using css in flash is very frustrating, but in theory I think this could work.

Hiyo,
Just to answer anybody else that had concerns with this. I solved it by using acescences' route and created a new font with just all the small cap glyphs.
Huzzah, thanks for the help guysssssssssssss!
