it's a good way to network and find jobs through meeting other designers... sometimes they have portfolio reviews which are really helpful for this...

I'd be interested to hear about the Chicago chapter of AIGA.

Minnesota member since 2007. Consider it an investment.

I just switched from the Philadelphia chapter to the SF one. My initial impression has been that it's a lot less active than the ones on the east coast and none of the events have interested me enough to go.
If anything it's worth joining to get your portfolio on the AIGA jobs site, I get a lot of people contacting me through there.
- do you? (not that Im doubting) I just wouldnt imagine clients KNOWING to go to AIGA to look for portfolios?identity
- I've had a couple people find me on there for freelance projects. Mostly people are recruiting for full-time/freelance work. And my average monthly page view is over 300, which is more than any other site my portfolio is on.megabytes

It did help me find my first job.
I've done a few networking events through AIGA Denver. I'm now a AIGA Cincinnati member. Have had great experiences with both chapters

AIGA is good for either young bucks either in school or just out of school. Other that a waste of ca$h.

I don't understand the yearly fee. For what? I can just pay for the events that I want to attend. And the jobs AIGA hosts are powered by C-oroflot, where you can have a portfolio and search jobs for FREE.

...On the other hand, the AIGA logo looks better than the new ADC logo...
