-"You're not who I thought you were" Jesus it's a portfolio!-
Not trying to piss in your cornflakes or anything but you're being a bit cavalier about how you represent yourself professionally. Hey do what you want, but if I am in a hiring position I expect a clear an accurate example of what you've done.
If you feel it's clear and no big deal, then rock on. But I would pass on your site and move on to the next freelancer, since I'm not sure what artwork you created. But best of luck with it. Cheers.
- Btw, I am not referring to your entire site, mainly just the banner quibble. I do like your stuff.harlequino
- But banners are big dollars for a lot of people and agencies, and I sub out a lot of work for that.harlequino

i do work for a pretty busy agency and last week had to slice a shit fuck newsletter together. in this newsletter, they were using a logo from the production company they had done the work for in it. think what you will of that. i see nothing wrong with using common imagery as well as the text and example links sell themselves
i do production work sometimes and am given final renderings or comps to use in my portfolio to see what my work contributed to. i have been the busy work man for many people. hell, right now, i see my work on album covers included in the work of others. it's the business.
but for real man, fix those thumbnails, you have other options as the links to your banners are not obvious.

Regardless of ownership issues, you're making it more difficult for a potential client/employer to understand what work you've done. You should specify the client and your role. And certainly it will help to use images that are representative of your creative contribution, more so that assets you've worked with. Upon seeing those poster images, most professionals would feel like you were hiding something I'd guess.

Well. I think that's fair enough criticism. I thought it was obvious at first, but perhaps it's not.
- Not to metion, they're only thumbnails. It's not like it's a lot of work to change them.Malleus_Maleficarum

At first I did not agree, but given the explanation that some people have given here, I would have to agree now.
My main reason is because of the way the portfolio is designed. Using this banner ad (and I also agree that this is the only area where I have issues) example, you have two big photos, and two miniature (to most) links to click through to see the project. That means people will indeed see the two big photos (which you clearly had nothing to do with creating), and try to click those—which by the way, should be clickable, given how un-obvious the text links are.
That right there is enough for me to agree with letters2 and harlequino.
I would change the thumbs, because they are so prominent. Anything that accidentally misrepresents you still misrepresents you.

I was too harsh with Martin.
Martin, I apologize. You're a decent fellow and I hope you find a job that suits you.
However, I still think the video of Timber website is silly. Impressive!! To be sure. But silly.

Your work has alot of merit, your skillsets and talents and your website are a bit all over the place some have mentioned but I'd tend to agree with others who suggested you show the work you've done. Banner ads or not you should be proud of the layouts you did for it. I think they were worthy of looking at, the interactive work wasn't bad at all. If you find that certain types of jobs are less fullfilling or not what you want to show on your freelance site why not create something that you do like. But I do want to say you have talent and I am sure you'll find good freelance work. But position yourself the way you want to get the kind of work you want.
- oh and think about hiring a copy writer or contact a copywriter to get some advice on copy points to present your work.Iggyboo
- Umm? I'm going to ignore that comment on hiring a copy writer. No offense, but it's nonsense.Malleus_Maleficarum

I agree with the thumbs and links being a bit haphazard. There's some nice stuff in there but it's a bit of an adventure to find it all.
What about more thumbs on arrival to give a better overview rather than the title page graphic with interference, which takes up the majority of the space? Not keen on that, personally.

Put the link to your content (portfolio) at the top left... it's the first thing that people want to see.

I had a look at your site. I'm 39 years old, a brummy and living in Hove.

At first glance i thought your name was Martin Keamy, which would be pretty cool.
The site took too long for me so i clicked off.
Good name though.
