At first I did not agree, but given the explanation that some people have given here, I would have to agree now.
My main reason is because of the way the portfolio is designed. Using this banner ad (and I also agree that this is the only area where I have issues) example, you have two big photos, and two miniature (to most) links to click through to see the project. That means people will indeed see the two big photos (which you clearly had nothing to do with creating), and try to click those—which by the way, should be clickable, given how un-obvious the text links are.
That right there is enough for me to agree with letters2 and harlequino.
I would change the thumbs, because they are so prominent. Anything that accidentally misrepresents you still misrepresents you.
