I'm working on an invitation for a party and wanted to get a quick poll from people on how they read this logo. Your first impression... what does it say?

If you're that concerned about it, you could make the weight of all the letters all identical - that might help. Or, you could separate the stem of the glass from the cup with a small gap, as it would lessen the "Y" effect.
But to answer your question, I read both instantly.

I just noticed the little stars.
On another note, the V in the glass seems stretched too tall to feel "part" of the word mark font. I would suggest squishing the glass shorter to make up for it.
- Make it more martini-shaped and less wine/champagne shaped.monospaced
- I think that was intentional.billfromkentucky
- Whether it looks like a martini glass or wine/champagne glass isn't a huge concern. None of the letters have been stretched. It's all Gotham 100%-100%sisu

some positive/negative issue, the glass really does make a Y.
make use of white (paper/ground)... so the glass is white (or grey) and V in solid blue.

Ave. (avenue) HN when there are multiple weights used.

That's a rather distorted take on a martini glass. You probably either want to lose it completely or have another go at it.
