"Internet Explorer remains ahead of the rest of the competition, but since month after month it continues to lose ground to all other browsers, Firefox has now finally surpassed IE6, which is easily the most hated version of Microsoft's browser."
I can't believe it's 2009 and we're still dealing with this crap!

and this is confusing because...?
who did you think would corner the market? safari? outside of design/art/film who uses macs? less than 5% of the entire world i'd imagine. and of that remaining 95% would it really surprise you that a significant percentage are not savvy enough or couldn't care less about the benefits of firefox over IE6? and that isn't even bringing gov't agencies and intranet sites into the equation, most with IE-proprietary code with no reason or budget to update.
- Safari is not Mac only.monospaced

It seems like Chrome has had a tough time gaining users. Strange because in many ways its the best option for PC.
- it's supposedly hard to exploit7point34
- but firefox didn't immediately gain a lot of respect either7point34
- plus, chrome is kinda ugly even by pc standards7point34
- plus, it's goobleraf
- I think FF gained a lot faster actuallyukit
- And cmon, all browsers are ugly.ukit
- the reason no one uses chrome is because they called it "firefox killer"Meeklo

The days of Macs being only for the creative industry are long gone, it's still a small % of the market share like you mentioned but the large majority of mac users today have nothing to do w the creative industry. College students, housewives, myspace addicts, people that just wanted say, look I have a mac.

approx 17% of the world has regular internet access.
I bet only 30% of that group even knows what a browser is.
So, um, really nobody beyond us cares.

Well 8 out of 9 planets of our solar system have no internet access at all and no life forms to not know what a browser is. Why do we bother at all?
- there are 8 planets in our solar system7point34
- im not saying dont bother. Just keep it in perspective.baseline_shift

For all it's "flaws" IE6 did have a lot of really powerful and advanced scripting tools back in the day.
What blows my mind is that on the one hand so little has been migrated to better more modern tools and on the other hand there haven't really been any strong incentives from the browser makers to motivate said migration.

IE6 is faster than IE7
- impossible! I've been waiting for IE6 to render a float with a margin properly for YEARS now.zarkonite
- nothing to do with that, it may not recognize a float but it's fasterspraycan
- IE7 is faster, but some people compare XP/IE6 with VISTA/IE7 on a machine without enuf RAMvaxorcist
- spraycan, I guess the irony was lost on you.zarkonite

when IE6 came out it was light years ahead of IE5.5
