Hi Guys,
I have a illustrator file in CS3, I was working on it one minute and it was fine, closed illustrator and tried to open the file again and I get this message
"Cant open the illustration."
I have had a look on google with not much luck. 1 option was to open it in corel draw and re-save it as an EPS??? But I am not sure.
Anyone have any advise?

Could be a faulty write, which could indicate a dodgy drive, which could lead to more files getting mashed each time you access the directory. I would keep a close eye out for other files corrupting if I were you and back-up folder by folder to a new drive be safe.. I lost a whole 500gb drive a few months ago after a similar thing happened.
Have you tried opening from within Illy via the menu file>open, as opposed to just double clicking?
Have you tried placing the file as an artwork inside a new illy document?

Yea I tried a few different ways of opening it, when I do open it through the file>open way, I can see the preview of the file, I can also open the file in Photoshop but its obviously not vector, any other ideas?

Is it a small file? Can you stick it somewhere and see if anyone else can open it?

the file appears to be "read only", but even after changing that it wouldn't open. I was however able to place it into a new document.

if you're not able to place it into a new document, let me know and I'll resave it for you.
