It's all well and good using the software you prefer... Each to their own and all that.
However, we rarely work alone on projects so compatibility is the main issue. The group have to move en mass, working within a studio environment makes the switch to new software a lot more difficult. Picking up other peoples work can be a pain at the best of times!

I still use FH every time I need to work with paths. The only Illy feature I miss sometimes is the selection via layers panel. I still hope we'll see if not an update, then at least a port to UB...
- You can most definitely select objects via the layers palette in Illustratormonospaced
- I know, that's the feature I miss in FreeHandrkrd

- I still use Atari every time I need to play something. The only feature I miss sometimes is DirectX 9 and OpenGLrkrd
- Their anti-aliasing sucked, but Ataris have value even today.monospaced

nah. quark was shite.
I remember creating a town map in Freehand 8mb of vectors and text on a 233MHz G3 with some miniscule amount of ram and it just did the job for me.

Why not use both? FH and Illy, that is.
- because I need to be compatible with other people, and Freehand is comatose or dead at the moment.Amicus
- I have both. I use FH for some of the 3D rotate tools then bring the paths back into Illy.Zenith_Kudos
