Quick Q: Is there a way to monospace a body of text in InDesign or illustrator using a font that isn't actually monospaced? Effectively over-riding any spacing information you have for that font?

Hah, sorry buddy
But do you know what I mean? I have an ascii text image that requires monospacing to work - except I want to use another font for it.- I get it. That is a tough request, though. I wouldn't know where to start.monospaced

Could do. I'm at work at the mo and don't have it, I'll have a look over the weekend, but other than that there's no programs you can use that will monospace fonts?

force justify

- not if there are no spaces between the characters, it will auto track themversion3

Just use the tracking/ kerning. Only check off "optical" in the paragraph or character panel.

Even if you set the same sidebearings in FontLab, it still won't work as a monospaced font because the pitch/character width isn't the same. There is no easy way to do it I'm afraid.

convert to curves and distribute objects?
- that might just do it if one distributes the centers and not the distances between objectsmonospaced
