- This issue seems to be pretty polarizing. I think that's probably good.instrmntl

- apparently they can't block you from accessing the sites, but if you don't have the addon package, they charge you considerable more to access the sites.dbloc
- but that's not legal under eu lawsuan
- also Portugal uses € not $ ...uan
- I assume it was converted to $ for comparison.dbloc

- yeah, scroll down to see more recent prices in that tweet.dbloc
- those vodafone plans offer special data deals, so those apps will not affect your normal data plan.uan
- I'm totally pro Net Neutrality, but that article and specially the tweet are bs.uan
- I mean...here's the real page, unless the whole company is fake.
https://www.meo.pt/i…dbloc - in Portugal, some mobile data plans offer extra data for some apps ( fb, twitter, snapchat, spotify)dmay
- you sign for a 2GB plan, and those apps don't add o the limitdmay

https://www.battleforthenet.com/… If you're in the US, click here to take action to save Net Neutrality!
The new, Trump-appointed FCC chairman is moving to gut the existing regs to create a tiered, paid system like dbloc showed that would be terrible for consumers, and make big profits for telecom giants.
Killing net neutrality would also forsake the freedom of information that we currently have on the internet. Imagine slower download times for qbn.com just because we didn't pay comcast more for fast-lane service!
https://www.battleforthenet.com/… will allow you to enter your phone number to receive a phone call to connect you with your rep's DC office. DO IT.

The entire Reddit front page is all net neutrality posts
Meanwhile no mention at all on the front page of CNN, MSNBC or Fox.
These mainstream news sites are almost all owned by big corporations that are also content creators and service providers. Meaning the media that most people watch has a huge conflict of interest against reporting on this.

My name was used for one of the fake comments that was anti-net neutrality using an old address: https://www.fcc.gov/ecfs/filing/…
My real comment that was pro-net neutrality is about 4 posts below. Two others with my name but different addresses have the same comments when you search for my name.

So if this goes through, ISP can make torrent sites crawl?
Essentially accomplishing what they haven't been able to in last 16 years?
- They'll be able to do pretty much whatever they want to do, including that.MondoMorphic
- that’s the first thing they’ll do surelyGuyFawkes
- It looks we're screwed. There is too much money to be made by politicians and the companies that own them to let this go.lemmy_k
- Yep.MondoMorphic

All this is hype right? Everything will be as it was. It’s not like we are going to go back to paying for internet by the minute like AOL in the mid 90s. So I can just keep ignoring this kind of complex topic. Ok, good. Thanks.

"The FCC and Federal Trade Commission released a draft memorandum of understanding (MOU) describing how the agencies will work together to make sure ISPs keep their net neutrality promises.
After the repeal, there won't be any rules preventing ISPs from blocking or throttling Internet traffic. ISPs will also be allowed to charge websites and online services for faster and more reliable network access."
