i've always though of fireworks as Macromedia solution to vector. always one step back from illustrator. but now that adobe owns macro and the said ip; what *has* fireworks turned to? does it have a nitch market?
- hellogrid0
I saw Freehand as the solution for vector, Fireworks is tailored for designing websites.

What does Fireworks do that's so special?

Fireworks sucks bad, terrible for doing web, all around worthless program unless you really like making animated gifs.
Photoshop all the way. And I hope you guys are joking about using Illustrator for web.
- ....not that I have an opinion :)designbot
- I agree with using illustrator to design for web... what a fucking nightmare.d_rek
- Why is Illy a nightmare? Especially if it's gonna be a Flash site, it seems even more sensible than P'shop.gramme
- and fireworks is great...
I dissaprove of this post entirely...not that you should give a crapmarychain

Ive had cs2 since just after it launched, now have much faster machine than then and it boots along lovely - I really can't think of any other features I'd like to see, mind you, Im not a product developer at Adobe, so Im fucked if Im going to do their job for them - whats honestly new in cs4 from cs2, people ? and has it made any impact on the speed or quality of your work ?
- speed not quality. probably not even speed. fuck it, i could probably still use ps2.5 with no differenceairey

fireworks was never ever meant as competition for illustrator. ever. they had an app called 'freehand'. fireworks was always simply meant as a web design app or conduit for preparing web graphics from other apps. fucking imageready was a turd of an app. luckily they rolled it's meagre good features into photoshop and you can export to web really well now.
