Isn't it kinda weird that there's still no decent site out there where clients can list a job and freelancers bid on it?
There's sites like Guru/eLance but they only seem to cover the dirt cheap end of the market. F reelanceswitch might be better but there's only a handful of jobs posted on there.

There is, its called crowd sourcing. Much cheaper.

There are lots of "1st world" people in eLance etc. You just get the "1st world" price.

This would be a mixed blessing..... most of my clients know they could find somebody cheaper through various online ways, but they prefer somebody they know and can talk to in person, hence I can charge more and not be commodified at the lowest bid....

It would be difficult to do something like that where only "1st world" prices apply because people will always try to lowball you.
I keep meaning to put a request for a quote form on my folio that has a minimum budget option that if selected just bounces cheap clients straight to elance or something without ever submitting to me. Haven't got round to that yet ..

@jamble
how r things with ur company meets project ?
is it used properly or people just see it as another way to spam a job like they do on reed or monster ?- It's pretty slow and mainly recruiters but I've just not had time to really focus on itjamble

All these sites are a mugs game, it's that simple.
Would you look in the classifieds in the newspaper looking for work? All these people are even worse, cheapskate unprofessionals, fact.
