I'd talk to a lawyer about this... I think typically you can either take the paycut, or accept a lay-off with severance. From the sound of it, your company may be getting ready to fail. Most would lay-off 25% of staff if things are slow. (layoffs cost money though). Sounds like things are NOT slow, but they still can't make payrole. = they are going to blow up.
I may be totally wrong about this, and they're just complete weasels, but I'd get out with what you can.

- maybe unclear: talk to the lawyer about your rights as an employee in this situation.monNom

Update: I gave my 2 weeks, and I'll be done here on Friday. I was very lucky and found something paying more than I was making before the cut. Now, they want to hire me to do freelance at the place I'm about to leave. We'll see if they'll actually pay my rate.

double your hourly rate when you where full time with them.
sample: 60,000 / 2080 = $28.64/hr x 2 = $57.69. round up... $60/hr

I know they charge $150/hour to clients for my time, so I'm going to ask for a pretty high rate, and I know what they pay other contractors with a similar level of experience, so I'm in a good spot.

25% GD.
That is a ton of money, I understand 10% but 25% you're screwing people unless you're all highly overpaid.
