the only thing i'm confused about is it seems there are 3 models of this camera. I don't know which I have... could be the first iteration but how do i tell? plus does mine accept a digital back (the kinds that cost 20k)?

It's written on the body. PRO, PRO II, or PRO IID. You can attach digital backs to all three of them. It will require rather expensive adapter and a sync cord from the leaf shutter lens sync port with the first two models. PRO IID is designed to communicate with the back directly.
