Just got a new kitten. Cute as hell. What type of litter do you all use?
- satogami0
why did you not ask that at the pet store?

Got it from a friend who's cat had kittens.

why did you not ask the friend then?

I use wood pellets, they are by far the best. Don't even bother with the sandy grainy stuff it's awfull and stinks, wood pellets work very very well.

fresh step is the only stuff i've ever used. it's the bestest.

teach the lazy shit to use the toilet.

It's all the same bud. I have tried natural, fake, none. They shit and it stinks. Clean it regularly.

Indeed I use wood pellets, they work way better than anything else I have used, but dibec is right, you need to get rid of their sheisse pretty quickly.

I'll second the wood pellets. Had cats all my life, and it's the only thing I ever seen that doesn't reek. And I've used every litter under the sun. Cat urine breaks the pellets down into saw dust, and will entirely absorb the odor (as long as you scoop with fair regularity).
That said, just bought a bag of recycled newspaper pellets, as the usual pet shop was out except for giant fuck bags that I couldn't carry home. So far, the newspaper seems pretty good too.

Every time my cat drops it's guts I fucking smack it hard in the face, she hasn't shat for six weeks now.

One other thing - massive warning on any electronic or self-cleaning litterbox. Just ask yourself this one question "What do I do when this thing breaks?"
We bought one for 100 bucks or so. It broke, and that was that.- I see them in thrift stores broken all the time.peddy28isgreat
- Second hand litter boxes? Ew.harlequino

i use fresh step and you can buy it in huge bags at costco for cheap, it is horrible when you find you are out and your cat is looking at you like "i am about to use your rug if you don't clean that litter box"
- the liter doesn't matter so much, its the box. i have a house like one so i don't have to look at the business.nicole_marie

We use Arm & Hammer at our house. It works so good me and the missus have stopped using the toilet ourselves and just poop in the litter box with the cat.

Wood pellets... never tried it? What's the cost comparison to tidy cat or every other litter that claims to be the 'most effective odor reducer'?
I've also tried pretty much every litter under the sun. I would avoid any clumping/clay kind at all costs - that stuff tends to get very hard to clean and smells to high heavens.
I've been using Tidy Cats Multiple Cats for a few years now, which seems to be pretty good as far as odor goes. No matter which litter you use you still need to clean it once-a-day or every-other-day.

The cheapest shit you can find.
