We don't need to waste money on this crap here in Chicago. Instead, we need to double the police force, give them an actual contract, and grow a pair to bring the crime down and throw every gangbanger in prison.
While I'm a Democrat and have more Liberal values, I agree with many who say it's the liberal values that have allowed crime to grow tremendously in this city. The south side and some of the west side of Chicago is pretty much a war zone in several locations that are being destroyed with gang violence and murders.

That's what people hope. I do agree it could do some good - maybe a total overhaul of public transportation or something.
But what people miss is that the Olympics is not FOR Chicago... It's to bring people TO Chicago. It's only FOR Chicago inasmuch as it allows city officials to make money and look great. Chicago government has a long history of doing things to attract tourists to the city at the expense of citizens who live here and pay taxes here.

I do agree. The development maybe narrowed and aimed at tourists, and not for people actually have to live there. Not considering the social / economic costs.
I just find its interesting that Obama is going out of his way to promote it. Just like Obama telling NY Governor to not run.

Yeah, they city has been in a real tizzy about whether or not obama will be going. Personally, I think it's silly. Bigger things to worry about. I think the fact that he is from Chicago makes it worse - it makes it look personal, when as president he should be focused on 100% of the country, not any one area for something like the Olympics.
