Churches are big business in the USA, they gotta put on a good show to keep the punters coming in. Their clients are largely people who think "faith" consists of going to church on Sunday and being disapproving of homosexuality.
America is a large country and there are sufficient punters to keep lots of these businesses in, ahem, business. It's showbiz.
