I love it when someone says that now, cause I can bring the article about the studies stating that all "functional running shoes" are just marketing gimmicks :)
"Dr Daniel Lieberman, professor of biological anthropology at Harvard University, has been studying the growing injury crisis in the developed world for some time and has come to a startling conclusion: ‘A lot of foot and knee injuries currently plaguing us are caused by people running with shoes that actually make our feet weak, cause us to over-pronate (ankle rotation) and give us knee problems."

thinking about duct taping transponder and running bare feet
- Meeklo0
just make a small incision on the top of your left foot and slide the nike+ thing in there, just like nature intended
- Meeklo0
I actually saw a guy running barefoot on the street one time last year, I noticed him running my opposite direction on the other side of the street, and a couple of minutes, I started running back and we crossed paths again, this time on the same side and the guy was running pretty fast, and I saw he had no shoes, and he was on the sidewalk, proper running gear, water bottle and everything, just no shoes, I couldn't believe it

I don't know. There's so much more than that.
It's not so much about "brands", appearance, shoe technology, etc... it's about what works with your feet and your body motion. You could easily have a dude get injured using Asics simply coz Asics might not be the right shoes for him even if the brand Asics focuses on running and are pioneers in this area. This same dude could feel amazing with some overpriced and fancy puma shoes and not get injured with them.
Like what we were talking with Leo a few challenges ago...... it's better to go with a specialist and get a GAIT analsys done to you to figure out your problems and be able to find the right shoes regardless of brands and fanciness.

Your doctor could well be right Meeklo, but I for one have made a large improvement in pace and the acute tendinitis I had in both ankles has now gone since changing my running shoes.... I could be wrong though
(they were almost 2 years old though)
- Meeklo0
Ok I'm back, ankle stings a bit, shoes overall where pretty comfy.
Did proper stretches and will ice the area in a bit- Did you just join the team challenge?VectorMasked

My new sensor is screwed. Yesterday I ran from the train station to work and then back again in the afternoon. There it was 1.5km with a pace of 10'/km, which is about right. Back it logs 0.4km and at a pace of 50'26"/km...WTF??? Am i doing something wrong?
- VectorMasked0
Hey Jurassica, you forgot to sign up for the main QBN+ challenge. You only signed up for the team challenge.
Don't know if this is what you wanted. But I just wanted to check. If you do signup for the main challenge, you current mileage will also count towards it.
- jurassica0
Ok... at least that is sorted. Thanks Vector!
