We have "use" as the preferred selection. Do I hear any dissent from that viewpoint?

Well, you have two options here. First, if you chose "Use..." (which is what I would do) then you will edit in AdobeRGB (wider gamut than sRGB). However, before you save a version for the web, you will want to go to Edit -> Convert to Profile and convert to sRGB. Second, you could choose "Convert..." and just work in sRGB from the get-go. The drawback to this is that if you are editing and then saving a working document, that working document will now be in sRGB, which is not nearly as large a color gamut as AdobeRGB.

You should read this guide that iso50 put together. It's really comprehensive and has some great stuff.
