Any advice on being in S. Korea, China and Taiwan? My first time out of the country for business and I'm freaking out a little bit (read - a lot) because I want to make a professional impression all around.
I know there have been threads before but I'd love to hear some contemporary opinions...
I trust the pool of professional wisdom here more than anywhere else.

1. Don't ever refuse a drink - esp. in Korea
2. Koreans will drink your ass under the table
3. Taiwan is really beautiful - if you get the chance get out of the cities.

Don't stick your chopsticks into the rice so they stand up in the air.
Don't refuse a drink. But jevad is right, you'll probably be drank under the table. Esp. in Korea.
Be willing to be Engrish Talking Dummy.
At least make attempts to bow.
Be respectful. Talk less then you normally do. Complement your hosts.
Don't point, but gesture with your whole hand (more Japan/Korea)

im curious about this drunk under the table... just how much can they drink? like how many beers/shots a night?
- fattykiki0
seems they enjoy drinking especially at party time.

when they ask you if you'd like to accompany them to Karaoke, say yes.. you won't be singing..

koreans will drink you under the table, and everyone else will just smoke you under the table.
get a really thick business card and give it to people with two hands. when someone gives you a card, accept it with two hands look at like it's really interesting and leave it the table next to you until the end of the meeting.
not sure about korea and taiwain, but china is pretty forgiving, nothing to worry about - you can be your self. nothing like the business customs of japan.

Koreans drink 燒酒..similar like Japan wine. I guess a top guy (male or female) can drink up to 10 bottles a night..
