GM introduces a car that gets 230 mpg. nissan's upcoming leaf electric vehicle will get 367 mpg.
we might soon have to be using another form of measurement to determine how economical cars are that don't rely on gallons of gasoline!

Don't believe those hype stats. They'll barely scrape over 70mpg in real world use. They measure the absolute best possible range acheivable by placing a stripped out vehicle on a steady rolling road that keeps the car in its optimal sweet spot for economy, usually about 5mph at less than a 1000 revs. Then they give that figure to the marketing people, who drop it into conversations with the press.
Like the Prius, which is less economical than a Jaguar XJ in real life.

Flying cars were already suppose to have come out in the 1990's according to a tv show special that aired in the 80's. I think it was on FOX.

X = the number of barrels of oil it took to produce the electric car
Y = the number of barrels of oil the car is saving in it's lifespanWhile (Y ≤ X )

Your car is not efficient
}- Miles per gallon of what? haha, they use mostly electricity. I agree a new form of measuring efficiency needs to be made.designbot

yeah, the GM Volt only gets that mileage if you never drive farther than 40 miles in a single trip, otherwise it gets more like 32 mpg, like every other moderately efficient gas powered car. That is because it can only go 40 miles on its batteries alone.
I am more excited by the aptera.

insert passing gas from butt hole here.

It's all a load of cock.
Cars that you recharge instead of fill with gaaas just fuck up the environment elsewhere. What is the point of measuring an electric car's mileage per gallon?
On that logic my bike is REALLY efficient then, I can do unlimited mileage and never have to add fuel or plug it in.
Bollocks, bollocks, bollocks.
- yes, but it is more efficient by a factor of 3, and the electricity can come from anything like hydro, or wind.********
- It's still not factored into this motor company hype. It's not a step forward but rather sideways.MrT

- not a real looker though, just a pretty ordinary looking car. The tech sounds amazing though.Not_Just_Another
