I have had good results, be sure that the chiropractor utilizes chiropractic sports medicine.

1. it can hurt. it can be extraordinarily uncomfortable if they can't get something to pop, and afterward you may even end up with sore joints / headaches.
2. they generally want you back 2 and 3 times a week. it isn't a terribly effective treatment for anything. unless you are making a conscious effort to change your posture and etc, it merely treats symptoms, and the "doctors" make a fortune.
3. it can work, but again not normally for long as the treatment itself isn't a solution.
- you'd be better off with ice and some advil, or a physical therapist for chronic pain7point34

I went this morning, had a nice massage then they cracked my neck about a dozen times at once, feels better but still have a sore back.
Mt insurance pays for it now with only a $10 copay so I think I'll go back.- happy ending?7point34
- Finger in the ass. Not the same thing mind you, but not terrible either.harlequino
- The one time i went to a chiropractor as a teen it hurt the same as before, but stopped next day.raf
- a finger in the ass is no happy ending, I wonder if this insurance works for the massage parlors by the airport ?fooler2

What part of spine do you have problems with?
I suggest someone skilled in ostheopathy or/and McKenzie method. Much less invasive, very effective. I speak from experience.

My brother is a chiropractor and after 12 years of school and continuing education and seminars every weekend, I'd say that he's more than qualified to be called a "doctor". I think some folks on here are just not educated on what chiropractor's do exactly and hear the "typical" rumors that were originally associated with chiropractors when the practice first came out.
Basically, your joints/bones/etc shift around as you move around and get out of place. This causes friction and other things which cause pain and shit, like arthritis. What a chiropractor does is adjust these conditions back to the normal/good state as to help relieve the pain and symptoms associated with the above conditions.
I wasn't able to straighten my arm after a motorcycle for 8 years and have had bad arthritis. After going to him for 5 months, I gained 15 degrees (which is a ton) and no longer have arthritis sicne the bone is no longer rubbing together. Fixed.
He also adjusts me everytime I go there too. Feels amazing. Like a fresh pack of batteries.
- Your brother "adjusts" you.
Tee-hee!harlequino - They have these DOCTORS who specialize in Physical Therapy that can recommend treatment for you.Mimio
- You obviously don't understand what a Chiropractor does.fyoucher1

had a chronic problem in the lower back, pain, couldn´t do any sport. wouldn´t heal, even after long pauses of sport, pain always came back. went to the chiropractor, talked for 2 minutes, he had me lay down, assume a strange position (for max leverage in regard to the problematic area), gave me a giant push. bam. pain is gone since.

^^ +1 for osteo too.
I got thrown off a horse a couple of years back and popped my hip out which smarted a bit. An osteo sorted it out completely. Worth every penny.

very useful. always had good experience. doctors frown upon them but seriously, what can a doctor do for something like backache? they'll prescribe muscle relaxants or painkillers but that doesn't necessarily address the problem. some people have bad posture and going to a chiropractor every now and then helps.

Try it, you'll like it! ...or you won't but at least you'll know.

i go they use this method [ http://www.activator.com ] i was having pinching in my lower back and that has completely stopped after a few months of treatments 2-3x a week - well worth it and they are working on getting my back to a point where i may only need to come in when i feel out of wack or once a month for a check up not to make me rely on them

Just got my first adjustment, scared the shit outta me.
They did xrays last week and looks like my spine is all type of crooked.
But I am moving soon, can anyone suggest a good Chiro in NYC?

What is your problem exactly?
I have seen dozens of doctors for back problems - Acupuncturists, physical therapists, chiropractors, I have some pretty long winded opinions on all of them - but knowing exactly what is up will allow me to weed out the BS.
