i just stat a business (fashion)..was wondering ,should i create a profile or page?which one is better for business use? or both?
- baseline_shift0
page. they have ones specifically for businesses. They make it easy to buy ads for those pages, and people can 'become fans' and help spread the word.
- thanks, actually just helped me out in the process :)WeLoveNoise

so,dont bother to register a profile? just page? i heard You have to have 1,000 fans of the page in order to obtain a vanity url?
- factoryxii0

think the fan page is just like a declaring you like this site
the profile page means all the stuff that you write in your status or wall is read by all your friends
just a thought, not 100% tho

era that link say page not found - i think you thought it was something else.

I did one for my studio, but I'm so ashamed to ask people to become a fan, specially people I know.. why can't they have some other word instead of "fan" its just so narcissistic

as far as the both/or just one argument, you are gonna need a profile to be the curator of the page. So you need both.
(just finished setting one up yesterday. http://www.facebook.com/stuartdw… )

we did one for a client and set it up as profile. facebook removed it because they found out it was a business.
- inkpink0
^ yup what JD said... if you're a business you gotta do a fan page.

someone i know works here: http://www.facebook.com/ralphlau…
- wow, 473,772 fans! As if the pricetag and logo on their shirt wasnt enough...baseline_shift
- u too can be successful with a facebook page. just have offline brand recognitionsherm
- sherm0
I'll build u a nice fan page for a nominal fee if you'd like

strange coincidence but apparently the 1000 follower limit for vanity urls was just lifted.

- factoryxii0
i see..so,for business has to create a page not profile..thx everyone!!:)

Fuck this is so confusing!
I have my personal profile page. That's personal and I don't want it linked to the actual 'business' account...
So, I create a PAGE in order for everyone to visit it and not have to request to be a friend right? Whoever likes it, becomes a fan yes?
Now, once I have that done, how can I add/search for people, it asks me for a personal profile and then changes my page back to profile status and everyone needs to request to be friends... WTF!!
Does anyone know exactly how to get this done? Please?
- inkpink0
maybe promote your PAGE via posting on your PROFILE?
dunno. never had a PAGE find me and ask for me to be a fan. i don't have one but would think PAGES cannot add people.
- homeostatic0
Yes, I had to do it recently.
Don't worry about linking your personal profile to a Facebook page. The administrator (person who makes the page and anybody thereafter you add to this capability) are invisible. You don't even have to be a fan of the page yourself to be an admin.
The drawback to Facebook "pages" is that they require you to utilize your friends list when suggesting to other people. There's no way getting around that. The positive part is that any fan can join and also suggest to their friends.
It's not that complicated once you start one up and get into the preferences.

So, if I want to create one from scratch, just create a PAGE and link it to my personal existing account? I created a test one, but once I'm done and I search for it, it doesn't even show... homeo, you mind giving me a brief guide to creating one?
- homeostatic0
Yes, while logged into your account create the page.
Your test one will do fine. Just rename it (which I am pretty sure is possible).
You have to publish it to make it publicly visible (and searchable).
