Just to respond to jimbojones:
Going to Google to search exclusively within QBN is not a solution. It's a hindrance. Just like that Filter feature above.
There is a ton of great content on this site; it sucks for it to be almost impossible to find within the confines of this site.
1) Needs a checkbox for about some key topics when you create a new thread: Design, Politics, Misc., etc.
2) Needs a "remember this thread" feature. I should be able to go to my profile and see threads I've remembered.
3) Search feature needs to search title, and original post, and the replies. They've always done an awesome job on the layout of newstoday and QBN. There are just some functional items that would be great additions to an already very good site.

adding keywords to a thread when creating one. that would help searching stuff a lot.

I think others hit the nail of the head when they say the PVN is brilliantly designed - and in fact it is probably the best designed forum I have seen - but the "content" areas of the site are less so. I know they tinkered with the design a couple times after Newstoday became QBN, but the "Public Choice" seems kind of squashed over there on the right side of the page, and to be honest I hardly ever look at it. And currently you can actually comment on the "Public Choice" broadcasts and Feeds, but that functionality is so hidden that hardly anymore ever does. If you made some kind of dialogue around the Public Choice easier and more visible without making it a carbon copy of the PVN, it would go a long way towards solving the major complaint a lot of people have, which is that the site isn't focused enough on design.

It also might help if users post with related titles.
It's no good having all this technology and posting with a stupid title!

BETTER SEARCH.
Try and search for "show recent work" to see what I mean.

Some sort of function where just as you click broadcast does a search for all the words in your newly created thread title and body. If any results come back you are forced to go through the filter results before your "new" thread is submitted.
