You've got to help a Mac guy out. I need to start using a PC for web development with my new job and it's been years since I've last used a PC so I don't know the go-to apps anymore. I'm primarily looking to replace:
- Coda
- Transmit
- xScope
- MAMP Pro
- VersionsI prefer free or inexpensive since it's only a contract gig right now and don't really want to drop a bunch of money if I'm not going to be using any of these in a year. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

why aren't they buying you the software?
- They might be, I haven't asked. I'll just end up using what I like anyway.welded

LOL @ DREAMWEAVER
but then i haven't touched it for years. got i hated that shit. the only thing it was good for was learning me to code manually as fast as i could.

yeah like i said - just use dw as a code tool not for visual layout...
some people just don't listen

Haha, so from the looks of it the apps I used to use are still relevant? I used to used PSPad for coding since I didn't care much for Dreamweaver's bloat.
One more I left off the list is Navicat for database management.
FYI: Versions is for SVN version control and xScope is a great little suite of screen tools (ruler, loupe, guides, etc.)

Dreamweaver is fine as a code tool these days, just don't use split view or design view. If you try to use it as WYSIWYG editor....well i wouldn't
It's built in FTP/file browser works well for me too. I hand code only and use it a lot.
..but it's whatever you work best with.

Does Dreamweaver support code snippets that can be inserted with keyboard shortcuts in a similar way to Coda?
- Shaney0
yes, called snippets also

e-text editor is like a shit clunky version of textmate

load ubuntu onto the pc -> there's no need to use windows 100% of the time these days
- If I had options I'd buy a Mac and put Windows on it. Sadly I don't think I have a choice. :/welded

I prefer Dreamweaver to Coda, even use preview mode sometimes – mostly to select parts of code by pointing at them in wysiwyg or in DOM breadcrumbs at the bottom. Coda sucks so bad at this, clicking at breadcrumbs has no effect and selecting previewed elements highlights code only in some cases.
Also, Coda has two identical looking code views that have different behaviours and option sets, it is just bad UI.
