Yo dawg, I've heard you like buses so I put a bus in your bus so you can buzz while you buzz
- iheartfun0
Whoever you out source it to should have a dieline! Its that simple unless you were planning on printing and cutting it out youself.

i jizz all over this bus

Client: "I am not able to get specifications for the bus."
I'm emailing the bus manufacturer, but if they don't come through I'm going to have to measure this bitch myself.

I do these a lot.
You need to contact the bus company....who built the bus and ask for the side elevations....they will have the dimensions.
I usually end up then creating a template in Illustrator based on the elevations drawing.
Contact me if you want to discuss...I just finished one and I'm doing another now.

I did one for a construction company.... it was a rush job. when to job site... measure everything added about .15 inches on each side and came out to be pretty good.

straight on shot, get a measurement for scale. do it in illy with cadtools plug-in. done.
Do not try and apply it yourself. Get another place to do it. So if they make a mistake it is on them, not you. Trust me... bad times.

pick a vendor
get a dieline
designi just a fleet of unimogs. turned out pretty rad.

dude, c'mon, everyone knows how to do this in japan since 1976 ;) hehe

googles and found this city bus template pretty quick:
- is that the matching bus? try scanning a mirrorceiling_cat
- it isn't a city busi_monk
- just scale up a twinkie and trace itceiling_cat

If you want to get started just lay it out in an approximate rectangle can't be that far off while the wrap company does the temp
- inkpink0
you should be able to approximate to get started... city bus, greyhound tourbus, school bus?
- inkpink0
charge bus company royally for template
- i_monk0
Client: "I don’t think that the bus company has wrapped any of their buses in the past."
At this rate it looks like I'll be standing in a parking lot with a tape measure.
Oh and his idea of a deadline is "soon".
- Bad move... the people actually wrapping the bus will have to measure it and create temp.JayCee
- OSFA0
Whoever is doing the wrap should give you a 'template' with specs so that you don't design over areas that will be cut or that might need to be altered. Plus, it's less work for you ;)
- JayCee0
What company is doing the wrap on the bus? We use Motorsports designs. they are pretty resourceful in getting me any template I want and I've wrapped some pretty crazy shit over the years.
- ceiling_cat0
Yeah, your vendor should have some sort of dieline template that you place a final tiff file underneath in illustrator. Make sure you have lots of bleed if it's mentioned on the specs.

(Thanks all, btw)

The bus is a Startrans President Series, 33 seater, not the low-floor model
