So I'm buying a Mac for the first time in years. Maybe this is a dumb question but what's the best way to do that - Amazon (my default option), direct from Apple, or some smaller web retailer somewhere?

Dunno for your city, but here in Montreal we can buy Mac's in university's computers shops, and they have great deals... and even more great deal if you still have a valid student ID card :)
