Seems like the electro thing fizzled out finally and electronic music is returning to its more soulful roots.

It had it's day, but the trend peaked about a year and a half ago.

agreed. electro came and went in like 01-02 and then back again in 07. it will come back again i'm sure of it...but i could use a break. too much ultra-shit out there. it's like it took trance's place for ultimate jock rock.

An artist in the Detroit house/ techno tradition that is hugely underrated is Jamal Moss. He makes amazing tracks, extremely raw, with old analog gear.

The 80's electro sound still seems super dominant....not just electronic music either, it's penetrated every genre. I didn't think it would last more than a few years honestly. Next up is a return to the 90's style techno.

Electronic music was, is and will be much bigger than the electro fad, half of which was just 'real bands' being a bit dancey.@ukit > excellent track.

These electronic threads are hilarious to me, probably the same way the Metal thread is to you electronic music lovers. It all sounds terribly similar.
I guess from knowing a few DJ's who were steeped in Detroit electronic music culture I have a little understanding and respect for the music but was still never able to ever really able to appreciate it.
