I do not mess with eblasts, but i was asked if its a good idea to use animated gifs in email signatures, emails, eblasts (not sure a difference in email/eblasts)...... i want to say its not a good idea but am uncertain, and not sure if there are methods you can use to at least make it show up without being blocked or look like a static image. anyone have the answers to these questions i'd appreciate it

methods at least to get better odds maybe like 70%, or hell i dont know if 70% viewing success is even a high odd with standard stuff.

When I was at Target we used them all the time in our eblasts....nuff said.
- many big companies use them.Jnr_Madison
- worst case scenario is the use sees alt text.....they work on nearly every client. Just keep 'em small.designbot
- yeah, I noticed lots of big companies using all-image emails now too...much more fun to design I suppose.designbot

This may be a dumb question but does anyone know if there is any particular eblast sytems to use, server stuff, when using an animated gif? Or is it treated just like a regular image, except for the whole outlook exchange thing where it makes it static?

new outlook will not play an animated gif and will stop it on the first frame but all others email clients support animated gifs so if you do use it make sure the most important message is on the first frame for those using a client that doesn't support the animation.

some email clients play the last frame only, others first, some play all.... so design accordingly....
