Kickoff's in a few hours. I can't believe, with all of the hype from ESPN and the presence of FSC, this match is only on mun2/telemundo.
My head tells me 2-1 Mexico, my heart says 3-1 USA. I couldn't imagine being on that pitch, in that stadium for this match.

I think USA might beat them actually.

Mexicans have an advantage of being closer to the ground

i know we have the players to do it. donovan's playing lights out right now. i can totally see him taking this game over. it's just that location is so brutal: the fans, the elevation.
- the airborne bags of urine.Chief
- I saw Donovan when he played for Munich... mehhhMau
- well, to be fair, he was there for a few weeks and did alright. it usually takes players a while to adjust to a new league.Chief
- i think his time in munich definitely helped his game though. he's been playing on another level since.Chief
- he's been there twice and failedShaney
- he's been there once and failed. he was only training there the last time.Chief
- he is a good player for north amerika.. but not good enough for a bigger european clubMau
- i don't disagree with you, mau. i think he could do well on a lower-level la liga team though.Chief
- agreed ;)Mau

mexico has to win. they are close to not going to the world cup if they lose this match. but the US is probably very bitter about last game

wasn't it 5-0 mexico last game ?

Yes, they played USA Reserves/MLS team....
- Mexico also played a "C" team and two teens killed that American team.VectorMasked
- C team? No man... want me to list all the A team players that played that game?OSFA
- Sure. Aguirre took guys that would be fighting for a bench spot or be the bench of the bench.VectorMasked
- Some "A" guys missing were: Marquez, Osorio, Salcido, Galindo, Pardo, Arce, Guardado, Vuoso, Oswaldo...VectorMasked
- Moreno, Arellano, Sinha, Leandro, Perez, Maza, Blanco, Villaluz, Nery,VectorMasked
- i'm curious to see how many of those are still A guys, or maybe how many play today. over half of that team will be playing today.Chief
- All of them ahead in the pecking order. It was a C team with a few B and Vela and Dos Santos (teens).VectorMasked
- ... today. it might've been teh C team then, but it's not now.Chief
- Thing with Mexico is that they rotate like 50 players. People familiarize with the names and think they are all the A teamVectorMasked
- i'm not trying to deflect any shame, it was a beatdown.Chief
- No today... But Mexico's missing Marquez. Anyways... Mexico has no A team coz there's a generational change happeninVectorMasked
- only true starter for Mexico was Torrado and maybe Ochoa. Vela and Gio were the game changers.sofakingbanned
- 7 of the 11 players that played the Gold Cup final were starters today. How many US players from that game started today?OSFA
- yes but understand that those are new players that mexico was trying out and are now good to go. Mexico needed new bloodsofakingbanned
- ... our old set up wasn't working. These new guys meshed well so they get to keep playing. read my post.sofakingbanned
- yeah. those players were not in the NT a year ago. They made their debuts quite recently and the chemistry kinda worked.VectorMasked
- Get rid of the players from the gold cup and you end up with the A team that's played confeds, wcs, copa america, etcVectorMasked

The U.S. is 0-22-1 in Mexico.
Ouch. I don't like those odds.

VAMOS MEXICO!!!
Well since I'm a big Mexico fan I gotta give the game to my boys, but I'll say this the US can be very deadly when they're on their game.
That being said Mexico has been play the worst football I've ever seen these past 2 years. This past gold cup was the first time since Copa America that Mexico has played well as a team. I think a big part is that they used new and younger players, some of our veterans act like the national team jersey is a massive burden.
This new team has fire and willingness to play their ass off, mix that with Carlos Vela and Gio dos Santos getting more confidante on the first team and Mexico is looking deadly! As always the key with this match up is breaking into the US's 5 man defense and watching the counter attack. The US has survived off their one trick pony of lock down D and counter on mistakes but the Azteca is a different story. The US has always looked sluggish and not as explosive when they play there, I'm hoping today is no different.
My jersey's on and I'm on my way to the bar!!!
good luck to both teams, hope this game is awesome!!!
2-0 Mexico.

i read vela and dos santos are starting today. i think that's good for mexico. the kids can play. i think vela will explode this year. he's sure to get a lot of action at arsenal and that'll only help his development.

the only reason why mexico is probably the latin team that i never go for is because the way they always talk like they will win everything and can't ever make it past the second round. they just seem louder than the rest. kind of how the british...
DONT HATE ME FOR THIS
- I would say its more the fans than the team. The fans can be a little out there sometime. I know when they suck and when they're on point.sofakingbanned
- ...on point.sofakingbanned
- I hear you bro. They're not a bad team, but media, country and players believe they are at the same level as Brazil, Spain, etc...OSFA
- and they are NOTOSFA
- Kinda like here, we all think we're good at what we do...and we're NOT!OSFA
- hahah. +1 OSFA.Chief
- Amazing. i've never heard of one of my people saying we are at the level of Brazil, etc... I've heard that from Americans.VectorMasked
- Watch ESPN in spanish tonight...OSFA
- espn = gringo media not mexican nor representative of the mexican people.VectorMasked
