I was asked today if i'd be available to live mix video next week. Never done that before, any advice?

typei have no idea what you will be mixing too...so these are only suggestions as far as some video stock.

If you never done this before, chances are you dont have the gear, so you should ask if the venue/ event will be providing video projection systems (that could include, screens, projectors, mixer and distribution amplifiers). big venues usually do, and you only need to plug your laptop in.
what kind of computer would you be using?
Make sure you go to the venue, at least 1 night before the event, take your computer and ask to plug it in, just to make sure you won't have troubles w wiring the day of the event.

AV Mixer Lite is free, for mac and pc, you can check the interface and how it works here:

+10000 on Meeklos recommendation. If you have a Midi controller, it makes it so much sweeter. I shelled out for the full version because i was amazed at how little latency and shit went on the effects... this is dope for live crossfading of videos or just straight up wacky live video effecting madness behind a live set.

They have mixing apparatus, i'll be hopefully checking out today or this week somewhere. I'll be mixing archive material from the city's video archives in an interactive 'play' you could call it. I believe it is a Midi controller.

For what it's worth, Numark Cue lets you mix Video too
