Look for a good price for a Macbook Pro 15".
Anyone seen any good deals in the UK?

Find a student.
Get them to let you use their apple discount (drag them to the shop - they just need to show a valid student ID). If it's before 8th September, you can get an ipod touch and then get a rebate of £145. So £20 for an ipod touch. Give it to the student as bribe.
Then you get a 15" mac book pro for either £1,221.30 / £1,378.85 / £1,562.85 depending on which specs you get.

I know what your saying, but I don't need an ipod, so it's actually costing me £20 and apple's prices aren't the best......?
- felizfeliz0
you give the ipod to the student. tell them they can buy one for £20. then you get the saving. or sell the ipod on ebay. you then make £145.
so that means the £1221.30 macbook pro, bought new will actually costs £1076.30.
unless you buy in Hong Kong, you'll struggle to find a new macbook pro cheaper.

Are apple stores ok, just dragging in a student and them not paying for it?
- felizfeliz0
Yes. It doesn't matter who pays. If they ever did ask - you can say it's your younger step brother/sister.
If you are particularly good mates with a uni student you can go with them to their uni, login to the apple store via the uni computers, get the discount and then just fill in your credit card details. You can even get it delivered to your house. No questions asked.

i scored a 15 unibody MBP on gumtree, 320 gig with 4gig ram and 9 months left of apple care for £1200

...is for the pros. You suck balls and therefore are only entitled to purchase a macbook. sorry.

Anyone recommend which model to go for?
2.53ghz, 2.66ghz?
Is it worth the money to go for the higher spec.
Going to be doing motion graphics on it.- Get the best you can afford.fodcj
- is there a big difference?broxybluenose
- felizfeliz0
the 2.66ghz - it has the two graphics cards. the 2.53 only has the integral graphics card. not so good.
also spend £30 more to get the 7200rpm Hard drive instead of the native 5400 rpm. - it means data is read/write quicker = better for video.

Refuurb store is the way to go
http://store.apple.com/uk/browse…- there's a reason they call it "Refurbish"felizfeliz
- yes, because they have been tested by the "peoples"...which actually makes them better.lvl_13
- Refurb store also sells unsold boxes in the weeks after newer models come outcomicsans

If I'm spending 1000 big ones, I don't want to see any scratches!

What would be better?
2.53ghz, 7200rpm hard drive
or
2.66ghz, 5400rpm hard drive- faster drive will effect battery life more.Samush
- they want to use it for motion work, so they'll want the faster HDfelizfeliz
