Just to add to the inane topics flying about today, I need to get a tent, has anyone got any recommendations? 2-3 man. Nothing too flash, by that I mean nothing too expensive.
Saw one at lunch in Cotswolds for £150, is a tent going to be ok for that price?

For general camping, backpacking or climbing?

There's really no need to go and spend £150 or more on a tent unless you are planning to use it in serious -20 weather or something, I'd never spend more than £50 - £60 on a tent and iv'e been camping for years
Vango's are good, strong, waterproof and well priced too, maybe take a look at something like this
- here it is without all the extra sleeping bags etc, 45 quid - bargain! http://www.blacks.co…set

General 'chucking in the back of the car last minute and getting out of london' type tent, with a hint of 'not being laughed at when it comes to putting it up'.

I swear by coleman tents. I've been in tough conditions with them too like -8 with strong winds. They're light and easy to 'erect'. I've even done the leg work for you. You're welcome. http://www.worldofcamping.co.uk/…
- Coleman are a good brand - I have a coleman stove...lowimpakt
- This tent is 2.95kg as opposed to this at 2.77kg for £250 more http://www.worldofca…Carl_Weathers

i would pay more for a tent and have it last longer. the more you pay the better the warranty, easier to replace missing parts etc.
we have a vango tent and so I can only recommend Vango. If you have any inclination for taking your tent while walking/cycling in the future you should pay more and get as light as possible.
we spent close to £150 on ours but have been camping all around europe on cycling/walking trips.. lots of festivals etc. It's still in perfect nick, packs away small and is light as fuck.
here's our tent up the Slovenian alps...
- My favourite place. God help you backpacking with that bad boy though!Carl_Weathers
- close to 2kg for 2 people. they don't sell this model anymore for some reason??lowimpakt
- actually it's 2.6kg hmmmlowimpakt

You could go with something like this: http://www.eurekatent.com/p-54-t…
If you look around you can probably find it for somewhere closer to £80.

definitely get a 3 season tent. this will allow you to use it in most weather all year round (especially rain). Make sure you get additional underlayment for it (try to get one that matches that particular size tent) and also try to get one that packs up pretty small.

I use one of these: http://www.rei.com/product/76189…
It's pretty light, durable, packs up small and is easy to put together, but it's close to £180.

Thanks for all the recommendations, it truely is a slow day on here. I dream of a day where we can all meet up at designer camp and exchange critiques of ripped logos around a campfire.

if you're going backpacking, you'll need a light tent.
if you're going camping often, more than 5x year, then you'll want a higher-quality tent.
sounds like you're just doing a little car-camping, 2-3x a year, in which case you can go get a decent kelty tent at target or something for like $50 - you won't want to carry it on your back anywhere, but they're decent tents and will work fine.
as far as getting laughed at, most of the people who shop at rei spend $400 on tents so they can laugh at people the one time a year they use it.
