Is the second paragraph supposed to read
"I would still be doing actual creative work and would NOT have lost the respect of the creative industry." ?
- I thought it was correct in that if he was still doing the creative he would be exposed as shite, therefore lose respectbabaganush

Sounds like someone has a little growing up to do...

oiishi you got some naming and shaming to do likes?
lolI do agree with you though, there are people out there who have very little creative ability yet have somehow managed to get themselves to a creative director position where they direct a team of hard workers and dont actualy do anything hands-on themselves yet take all the credit when it comes to awards or writeups.
There job though, is as the title suggests.
If you worked as a "Shelf Stacker" as a supermarket, you wouldnt be telling someone to stack shelves for you, you'd be doing it yourself.

Also,
A creative director doesnt actually have to be a creative person themselves, they might be better with words or spurring on a team to make ideas pop into their head.I've worked on a few projects with a guy who was head of the NY office of one of the world's top agencies. He isnt a creative guy at all but he's amazing to talk about projects with, he says things that manage to get into your head and help you come up with creative ideas yourself.

As a creative director I think it is your duty to make sure everything that leaves the building is brilliant and 'creative'. I don't think you need to be an amazing artist or technically proficient I think you do however need a very good eye and have an incredible creative energy which can encourage and stimulate you designers to enhance and better projects.
Now get back to work before I give youse all a thirty second hazing ye dicks.

My mistake - had you pegged for a Jnr Creative with a chip on their shoulder. The business guys strip is genius...and also sadly, so very true...
