Well I am finally moving to nyc or san fran at the end of the year...I got a green card from the lottery and its been almost 2 years since so I have to move by the end of the year before my Greencard expires...I am nervous though of the job sitch in the US...is it getting better...is there jobs out there for a senior visual designer...or am i going to get there and waste 2-3 months rent and end up coming home? I am leaving my 2 year Girlfriend for this...I am hoping that she will join me..but I have to put a ring on her finger first...anyways...my question is has it picked up? is the more jobs...I am looking on Krop and there isn't as much as their was...any other sites people can recommend.

Last time I checked you had to be married before picking up the green card for her to get one too. I heard of people marrying in the short time between receiving the letter and going to the embassy.

you got a green card from the lottery, wha?

yes, there is a lottery with green cards. apparently there plenty of people who get their green cards like that.
you leaving sydney for either s.f or n.y? not sure it's more jobs here but don't make that stop you. if you want to go, you should.
i came to l.a from stockholm, around 99 and wasn't thinking of staying more then 4 years. well, it been 10 now. lol.
re. the girlfriend. if she's the one, then some time apart shouldn't break it up. but if she's not. then it won't hold.
what ever works. :-)

I'd like a green card, but the lottery isn't open for Brits. Presumably because there are enough Brits in the US and/or Americans generally dislike us.

things are getting better. If I were you, I would move before your GC expires.

you can re-new it when you here. don't wait till it has already expired.

check Krop for your job. I believe there are a lot of visual designer jobs. (from what i can tell)

Plenty of work in SF and NYC. You've got a decent folio – shouldn't have trouble. Hit us up when you're out here in one of those cities and the NT coalition will come together.

With your GreenCard, I would come here and freelance.

Don't lose your GC, it's already pretty hard to win (you got to be lucky then there is the paperwork to do...etc) and all the other visas are a pain in the ass to obtain. I won mine too and coming from a different country might help to find a place (because you're exotic...).
