This kind of behaviour by Apple really makes me wonder if they'll ever become anything more than a company that makes trendy and cool gadgets.
They've shown time and time again that they cannot commit to the professional markets, why would you invest in their product line when they could pull the plug on you at any moment?

I used to use shake and commotion, in fact the last itme I did any of that sort of work was for a Nike promo, the budgets for this kind of thing don't exist anymore and if they do you are talking flame budgets, so people change what they film so that effects are easier and cheaper to achieve, sure the work is still out there but few and far between.

i bought the cs3 production bundle when it came out and have been using premiere since. i changed the keyboard shortcuts to match those of fcp and i haven't really noticed much of a difference. a little less stable, but for the little editing i do it's fine and the ability to import your projects into after effects with all of your cuts is super nice.

Hey chief, this is something fcp and motion and color have done very well plus the importing / rendering of motion projects in FCP is a real bonus, this has saved my bacon on a few occasions, just a shame motion and FCP are about as stable as fuck all.
- I used to edit with AVID in the old company I worked for and it was rock solid never crashed.chossy

at my last job we had an avid with the unity, it was always down. big pain in the ass. for editing motion graphic stuff, i much prefer fcp or premiere. it's just easier.
i've never used motion, been using AE for a long time and haven't felt the need to pick it up.

Pick up motion it will really enhance your outlook and hopefully your projects, I began with AE version 4 and have used it since and when motion came out I embraced it and began to learn it as well, both packages are great, I would say that motion despite it's complete and utter unreliability and rediculous performance when handeling text, compliments an edit suite and AE really well. Often I will bang the meat of an animation out in motion then pop a few things from AE onto the animation and vice versa, it's all about integration and using the tools which get the desired effect. I never saw motion as a competitor to AE rather an accomplice.

Nuke wins.

ILM purchased a site license for Nuke as well. Huge investment. Nuke will be around for a while.

As long as they continue with the burgers and fries, it’s not such a great loss.
