Definitely into the UK styles and the more experimental/ techno sounding stuff. Like Zomby, Various Production, and pretty much anything on Planet Mu. And then there is the more hip hop/ J Dilla influenced stuff like Flying Lotus (not sure if this really counts as dubstep anymore, probably not)
The more purist tradition dubstep that basically sounds like slowed down techstep jungle is boring IMHO.

I like dubstep. I produce it here and there and even have a release out. However, I'm definitely over the big razor bass rusko type stuff. Actually the early dubstep that's more like dark 2 step is my favorite.
I love Flying Lotus. But, that dude is hip hop. He might play some dubstep, but his tunes are straight hip hop. He reminds me more of Madlib than anyone.

I promote a few parties in Sd, but in all honesty, I like only some tracks, anything that is not dark, when it gets too dark I can't hang w it..
I would love for a subgenra like liquid is to drum n bass to emerge (purple maybe?)

^ agreed. plus lotus is more organic / uses samples. alot of dubstep is too softsynthy for my liking.

It's really hit or miss with me. Sometimes people throw their hands in the air for the worst sounding shit, but tastes vary I suppose. Sometimes I'm really feeling the darker stuff but every now and then some uk stuff will really make me jump out of my chair. Reso is one producer I really like. Big tunes from him.

loving Boxcutter at the moment. Not too deep/hard. Any suggestions for similar artists.

^^ Was a Cubase user for a long time, then used gear (MPC 2000xl, some Korgs etc). I use Reason at the moment but I'm pretty much over the whole midi trigger shit and want to get back to some good ol audio chopping. I'm buying Logic here in a few days.
