I'm disappointed... I thought this was going to be a manly thread about shooting game, ripping the meat straight off the carcass and then imbibing it, what.

eventually, you'll be able to shoot HDR which will far surpass RAW as it will use a floating point type to store color data rather than 8/12 bpc.
unfortunately, HDR is currently getting a bad rap from it's misuse by a lot of the inexperienced users on flickr, but it has some amazing uses we've yet to see.
- HDR makes everything look like a PS3 game. It's for photoshoppers (read: non-photographers)gjd

Yeah, I use HDR to try and get more detail...

jnr, what hdr software do you use?
- Photomatix 3.0, takes a bit of trial and error to begin with but you get the hang of it.Jnr_Madison
- The HDR in PS isn't great.Jnr_Madison

you should try hdr max. you can get the same results but far better - especially for realistic shots. prolly same learning curve.
- I'll have a look, thanx.Jnr_Madison
- the pics in my flickr aren't great examples of HDR, I worked on them in PS too.Jnr_Madison
- if rolling on windows, stick with Dynamic Photo HDR. period.jaylarson

people complaining that RAW is too hard obviously never worked with film.
Version3 is right. Raw is the only way.
