I've been married for 10+ years now, and me and my wife have been working together for the past 7 or so years (we're both designers). Seems to work out fine most of the time, although I do spend quite a bit of time at night in local bars - to give each other some space, eh :)
Most people think I'm crazy (which to some extent is true), they can't bear the thought of working together full time with their partner. Anyone else here who works with their partner, and if so, how's that working out for you?

I'd do it if my wife was a designer.

when you say "together" does that mean you work for the same company but are in different design teams?? or do you work together like together on the same projects and are equal or greater or lesser to her on the same team??
this works out for you!?!? god bless you!!!!
if you can make it work then go for it!! i hope your level of creative competition is still strong even though she is your wife, i hope its extra intense because you go home together its liek that crazy fevour of excitment!!!! everyone talks about it by the cooler.... pssst hey did you know... -™ blah blah blah.... and now even werse gossipped at the QBN COOLER hey did you know... -™ bleh bleh bleh and it never ends.... get off the inner net and go have a drink so i can go to your house and console your wife!!!!!w000t!!!!

"together" as in she's the CD and I'm the DD, so yeah, we do work on the same projects quite a lot. We're basically run the studio and have hired most of the designers working here - not our own studio, we're both employed to run the show and steer it into new directions. We have different strengths, which are very complimentary in a way, so we can achieve things that neither of us could have done by ourselves.
And yes, work doesn't stop when we leave the office and I'm pretty sure there's a fair amount of gossip going on, but never mind really, as long as I have my nightly drinks (when our daughter is sleeping) and the misses can meet with her secret lover (or read a book).

my gf wants to work together so bad. says i have no business skills.
she wants to be my boss, send me to do a photo gig and then collect the check. sounds like slavery to which i have the option of voting nay.

my wife fired me from my last position

my ex-wife really wanted us to work together, but it just never worked out really [on every level]
I have been thinking more about this possibility with my current gf though... we're making a move to australia shortly and reckon that we'll get our toes wet [separately] in a studio/agency for a year and then try to do our own thing, possibly together...
I don't know though, I don't play well with others...
- but I've worked with a few husband and wife teams, can be great, can be a disaster..neue75_bold
- anyways, go for it.. what's the worst that can happen? Divorce, pfft, been there, not a big deal..neue75_bold

I share a home office with my missus - we're doing our own thing but she sometimes helps me out. Works a treat.
It probably does help that we've bought the place so it's all for a common goal etc etc.
Why not? I reckon.

i used to work at a small design studio... it was me and the married couple(principles).. and there were SO MANY AWKWARD moments. one of the reasons i quit.
- nicole_marie0
yes if you do decide to do that, don't make it awkward, i worked with a married couple and they were the most miserable people i have ever met but honestly they probably would have been that way on their own. the fact is you are scrutinized more when working with a couple, if your in a bad mood, it is automatically because of your partner not because of that parking ticket you got earlier.
i would love to work with my bf one day but i would start out with smaller business venture and if things go well take it from there.
- it's not that i'm thinking of doing it, we've been working together for 7 years now__TM

My parents are hip to hip. They been running a grocery store since 1977 so they been working together for 32 years. They do everything together, don't have much friends. They use to argue a lot when we were younger from stress but today they are retired and watch tv together all day. A boring life they have.

have to say that the first one/two years there were plenty of awkward moments. Now it's all professionalism throughout.
Or so I like to believe..
