Do you guys have any reccomendations for some audio recording programs for the mac.Production software?
My buddy has a G4 laptop and he had logic 7 or whatever but he lost it.
Are there any more efficient programs out there for him to record in his home studio with?
He is used to a windows OS and programs like acid.
Thanks

Was going to recommend Logic Pro, but he is not looking for that?
Maybe try reason, or even garageband if its basic audio recording/editing

I'm fond of Cubase (essential) - it's pretty good for the $$
- cubase does a lot more thant recording audio thoughMeeklo

Hey Graham
Akrok made a good question..
What kind of recording he will do? do you know?
If he had experience with Logic, maybe he can try Logic Express, its a toned down version for the bedroom musician. There is tons of apps, depending on his previous experiences he might like some better than others.
I haven't used reason in years, but last time I did, it wasn't designed to record external audio, I might be wrong though...
Audacity is free, for both macs and pc, and its more than enough for simple stuff.

for a lightweight tool, try Sound Studio www.freeverse.com/soundstudio/
it should work on a G4, Soundbooth needs OSX 10.5+ and that won't run on a G4.

Been using Digital Performer for a while now and love it. It's Mac only like Logic is.

Soundtrack Pro is my "simple" tool of choice for this.

Peak 4 is...maybe updated now. i haven't follow it. anyway, its like soundtrack pro. ( sound editor )

Well he has an Akai MPC, A Triton & an Audio Interface, he can make the music with his hardware. I think he really just needs some software that will allow him to import the music from his hardware, then give him the ability to record his artists in his pad.

ableton live would be dope for him i think...but i'm also partial to cubase. learned it way back in the day and just keep @ it.

Yea i'll try to put him up on ableton, I had a mackie spike and i learned ableton faster than i learned how to use the hardware. Only thing i couldnt do was get the input to record to the left and right channels it was always mono. thanks a million
