Apparently the publisher who owns George Orwell's books had second thoughts about offering them digitally. So Amazon simply erased it from the hard drive of all the people who had ordered the book on their Kindle. LOL

it's like when michel j fox went back 11 minutes earlier to 1985 to save the doc in time. well, more like when he saw his brother and sister and himself erased from time on the picture.

One of my favorite Bowie songs.

Not censorship, it's more an issue of ownership in a digital world.
- raf0
It's not censorship. it's your bookstore sneaking into your bedroom taking back the book you were reading. Just fucking wrong.
I always said digital downloads were a scam. A book or a CD has resell value, can be passed on or lent to someone.

Indeed, ukit. My remark makes no sense. I'm just being fuelled by excess of information, crazy co-workers and tin-foil lovers. It's hard to escape when you are surrounded by THEM.
j/k.
I just need a month vacation.

It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen. Winston Smith, his chin nuzzled into his breast in an effort to escape the vile wind, slipped quickly through the glass doors of Victory Mansions, though not quickly enough to prevent the ghastly act of Amazon forever erasing what incredible tale there was to come.
The End.

Big Brother is for real. The difference with the Orwell's story is that we are incrustating ourselves in it blindly. Its called Facebook, Google, Twitter ... etc. etc. All those are mini-Brothers. Welcome to 2084.

I bought a lavendar Kuwahara Scamp BMX bike with my newspaper route money in 1984. It had immaculate white peregrine mags. First cool bike I owned. Back then all the bikes were pink and purple and baby blue and shit.
- that's some rad Newspeak!SteveJobs

they wont do it again:
Amazon effectively acknowledged that the deletions were a bad idea. “We are changing our systems so that in the future we will not remove books from customers’ devices in these circumstances,” Mr. Herdener said.

I'm from '85 and deem this whole ordeal perfectly normal. What are you talking about? And use newspeak or no crimestop? Bellyfeel?
