PC > Mac on Network?

It's been more than a year since I got a Mac and transferred files from my PC to MBP.
I'm setting up my girlfriend's new Macbook tonight and need to do the same thing.
Can anyone refresh me on the steps to take to either:
1) See the PC folder contents on the Mac, or
2) See the Mac from the PC and just move over files.Much thanks.

I got it figured out.
Man, I've got to say, that glass trackpad on the new ones is nice. Nice and smooth. Sitting down to use my older MBP, I feel like I'm dragging my thumb on sandpaper!

How quickly do you files transfer between the two? Mine go slow as a dog...
