this is my final bug then I can finally launch this bloody site. here's my problem, I am loading an external .swf, which contains a pre-loader.
the preloader in the external .swf works fine when I test it online by itself (not being loaded via main.swf)
But when I test the external.swf through the main.swf the preloader does not work. the external.swf just plays through like it does not recognize the stop(); in the first frame to initialize the preloader skipping it altogether.here is my code:

the preloader is probably referring to the base swf, which when you're loading it into another, already loaded swf, thinks the load has already happened and moves on or simply ignores the code flat out.
you'd be better of using a preloader in the main swf that gets used when necesary, although do whatever you feel more comfortable with.
a quick google gives a few quick and easy options:

Thank you very much Airey!

Why are you checking load status with Event.ENTER_FRAME?

Looks like you are trying to use AS3 like it is AS2.

yeah ornj, my as3 sucks, slowly working on it, if it wasn't for the IK on this project, i would have done it in as2 and would have been finished long ago.

Lee does some a great easy to follow external swf preloader over at www.gotoandlearn.com - follow it real slow, lol :), and you'll never have any problems with these things again.
I love Lee.
