After a tough month or so with my original design with my website, I decided to shift gears and go with something that felt a little better to me.
Gone are the orange "swooshes" in the logo, enter the blue dots...
Anyone have any thoughts about the overall design/programming? I'm going to work on a few accessibility things tonight, but that's really the only top priority I see at the moment.

get rid of half of the crap on there for starters and simplify it

needs something bold. a focal point, or starting point.
logo is better.
get rid of the 'seen enough' section. why lower your value?

I would explore using something other than lightbox for the featured work. Perhaps some background flash or frame.
West Michigan, huh. Nice.
- Thanks for the suggestion. I've struggled finding exactly what I want to replace that Lightbox, so for the time being that's what I went with. Destined to change though.besler

I dont know your target market, but this appears very corporate and bordering on a little boring for a single designers website. To some degree you dont have control over where the client takes the work you do, but my attitude is to push your personal identity a bit farther than your portfolio of work even to suggest an identity that will make you stand out. If not, then go the dead opposite direction and make it very very minimal, much more so than this current design.

needs a focal point. nav is too small (or that header is too big). too much copy. i don't want to read about the work you've done, i want to see it (and then read about it if i find it is something that interests me).
the colors are pretty generic. i would look at something other than that baby blue microsoft excel color.
- keep in mind this was just after a very brief glance.lvl_13

is this a template?
