LIFE photographer Gjon Mili visited Picasso in 1949. Mili showed the artist some of his photographs of ice skaters with tiny lights affixed to their skates jumping in the dark—and Picasso's mind began to race. The series of photographs that follows—Picasso’s light drawings—were made with a small flashlight in a dark room; the images vanished almost as soon as they were created.

Someone made a 3D travel through the Guernica some time ago. Forgot the link, but it was very interesting, painting-wise.

so, was he really never called an asshole?

One of the greatest artists that ever lived, no doubt about that. He was also a good writer, although he had this tendency to absurd characters, which makes writing hard to swallow.

I just watched a doc on him and I always thought he was just that typical romantic womanizing modern artiste, and he was, but i didn't know he got political later on after wwii and was commisioned to paint Guernica about the bombing of Spanish civilians by italians/nazis. Pretty heavy stuff in it. An interesting tidbit is that while the USA were making there case to bomb Iraq into a pulp a copy of it was hanging somewhere in the background but was covered up for the tv cameras.
- There is a duplicate painting of this in palm harbor florida.. I was lucky enough to see it.mattfoo

i have always found it fascinating how much these light drawings resemeble his traditional drawing style. I don't think I could even come close to drawing how i draw with a flashlight in a dark room.
