Interesting(ish) opinion piece from the First Post, although it smacks of 'no content' journalism.
- Nairn0
I almost completely agree.
And it completely terrifies me.
- ********0
Yes me too Nairn. It really does feel like authority is down the plughole now.

Once our institutions are subverted and the masses realise they can't actually look after themselves, who fills the void?
In fact, who's been doing steadily, quietly doing this for the past 50 years?
Weyland-Yutani that's who.

This is the situation we get ourselves into when hommos like kon23 protest about bullshit like a 'loud building site'.

^ Italy was fucked many years ago. The empire mentality has retained a semblance of law and order here... enough to create the perception of relative honour, ethics and authority in the average Joe until very very recently. This is new territory for most people in this country, Italians are born into the state of their nation.
- Good luck with that. That happened 60 years ago. Look where we are now. At least have the decency to learnAutokern

- ... to learn what? What national enlightenment does Berlusconi personify exactly?********
- But i won't start on this.Autokern
- B is the perfect result of that line of thinking. Enjoy the ride.Autokern
- Oh go on Frisk, I was actually trying to stoke your fires with my statement to be honest. = D********
- Flamboyant sex pest. Sums the Italian spirit up perfectly, I think.Nairn
- As I said: enjoy the ride. It's a one way trip, btw.Autokern

we need a Lord Protector. I'll do it if someone provides the ermine cloak and scepter

No, it's the situation we get when half a population spends a weekend heatedly gassing on about the identity, real or otherwise, of a nondescript character, real or otherwise on a consumer toys television show, real or otherwise.
- Did you see it this weekend though? OMG!
Disclaimer: I didn't see it. I don't even know what it is.******** - ZOMG! Did you see that Schui is the Stig?!?!?!?!flashbender
- HAHAHA********

anyone watch any of the Question Times since the expenses thing? 1 hour of total fucking reactionary, mushy minded plebs shouting nonsense at the MPs and I was firmly on their side. If you wouldn't gleefully steal from these complete tossers, you're wrong in the head.
- We should get tickets to be in the audience and pick everyone's pockets as they vent.********

you know they're thinking of giving 16 year olds the vote too? which will probably only lower the relative turnout even more, but still; those 16 year olds who do vote will have a disproportionate voice, much like the racialists in our current situation.
This is a lot of pish anyway - once the Tories get in everyone will shut up for a while at least. Except me of course, I'll be louder and more pissed off than ever.

The lunatics are taking over the asylum. Perfect title. That's exactly the dot on the i. Wankers like Kade and douchebags like Wilders. Morons who shout the loudest become a fad. Fuck you if your idea is well constructed and has nuance! "Two muslims commit a crime? They're all criminals!"
Everybody who can't make it past college should be sterilized.
- chossy0
WHAT!!!! give 16 year olds the vote, at that age I was still too scared to poke a lassie let along understand choices and have an opinion which was valid and my own which I formed from research and interest.
These days the only opinion I have is that I like poking lassies, based on entirely theoretical tests conducted in my hologromatic sexing tents.

Wasn't Britain the only European country sane enough to treat democracy as an experiment and have the monarch keep their hand on the lever in case it fails?
Can the Queen formally take over or am I making stuff up? She can in Australia, can't she?Actually, 2/3 of Liechtenstein population voted in 2003 for constitution giving their monarchy even more power than before. They seem to be doing well..
- oh fuck no fuck no FUCK no! holy hell are you completely brainless??kelpie
- airey0
and america is the only place on the planet that bangs on and on about democracy but doesn't actually have a real democracy itself. irony be thy name.
- raf0
Democracy works somehow, at least we're all getting by in it. But I love the airplane example, it illustrates how insane an idea democracy is: would you board a plane where passengers put pilot's actions during flight under vote to tell him what to do?
- < silly example... what government gives voters real-time targeted control of anythng?ribit
- Pupsipu0
well, most people would probably vote for the pilot to fly normally, no loops, no dives, no 0 gravity simulations, and get to the destination alive. Maybe sometimes they'd pick a different destination, like if they're forced to vote by a terrorist.
