- Monocle is not one of their clients. Monocle and Winkreative are virtually one.janne76
- I guess considering Tyler owns both companies I'd expect such a meticulous detail to be carried through. It’s a nice detail, which communicates that Winkreative have offices across the globe. Their site has a really nice editorial feel, it's a great presentation of their work.mds

i don't like them using the clocks though as i was using it in my new site design as well. no i have to rethink that.
- we made those flash clocks years ago, don't sweat thatversion3
- i was doing it in js./canvas.janne76
- oh teh new stuffs, :(
*will be avoiding canvasversion3 - i still say do what you do, don't be uninspired by others, that 's skurryversion3

I also prefer the work they did 5-6 years ago when the guys from Saturday was part of the team. Love the site though, very cool and grown-up :)
- 5-6 years ago the work did not look as good as this! but, then again it was amazing then too.mullerbrockmanns

a client of ours had a dream in which he had a different clock on the wall for each of his properties... each property was in the same time zone, so they all had the same time. when he woke up he thought the dream was so funny that he actually did it.

I have to drop some critic in here.
For one, the work of Tyler's teams have always been a kind of example of solid design practice for me. If not Wallpaper, the Monocle magazine has set my reference of a world news report.
Imagine the excitement, when I've heard, that the work which I will be adapting for my clients is the work done by Winkreative! The exvitement, which has promtly given its place to disappointment. I won't be dropping names here, but this client work is actually feature at their site. For fairness reasons, I should mention, I haven't read the brief the studio has got from the client. However, I would expect a design practice of this scale to be able to handle most queer briefs, too (and it couldn't have been *that* bad). The result is not impressive at all:
the logotype is shit — you can't use it as a stand-alone branding, because the mother-brand is getting too small to be recognized (which practically means, that the mother brand will be used instead, anyway);
the typeface selection, though mostly ver subjective thing, is just not convincing;
the end-consumer brochure is printed on a stock, where your finger prints are instantly left on;
the advertising guide is misleading and basically full of dashed lines and notes, which have no use when you try to apply them to a different format.If I weren't sure, it was the work of Winkreative, I would think, this is an in-house execution of the marketing team done by the hands of a student.
What I've learned is — no matter how recognized and acclaimed you are, you probably cannot deliver 100%, clean and great work all the time.

very very very true, popovich.
seriously, you hit the nail on the head.
i too, by myself alone :( am completely redoing work that was done by a 'very established' name in Dutch graphic design.
client says it is unworkable..(or something along those lines in english.. ;)

nevertheless, Monocle is very inspiring to me and so is some of the work of Winkreative. Also respect to Tyler Brûlé, for he came a long way from being a journalist, a war reporter, a publisher, entrepreneur in publishing to design director. Takes quite some energy and dedication to pull that all off, whether you like him or not.

Wow! Look who's been a busy design studio! Love it. I cannot think of an agency with such discipline and consistency that manages to attract such fine clients - the old site was the first of its kind (and set the bar 6 years ago), but they should have changed it years ago - now ... we get a little window on the world of Wink. Wish some other studios would follow suit. Let me in! This site sets the bar - I'm bored of having to dig out my old copy of Creative Review to see what a studio has done, give more sites like this and I can gain some shelve space. Congratulations Winkreative.

Interesting. Brookville and Nachmann are particularly gross. They do have some stellar work elsewhere though. Seems odd to me that these poorly done projects made the cut.
Intern's vengeance maybe?
- that's what they give to clients when they don't pay bruler's first class flight for meetingsjanne76
- I guess the Kerning Koolaid you drank on page one wore off.moveinspace
