Big Web Applications CMS or Custom

    Just to throw in my 2 pesos here...

    What I've found from my experience is that out-of-the-box CMS's like wordpress, drupal, etc... *can* work for the really robust, customized website that you're trying to create, but what winds up happening is that there are so may mods/hacks/plug-ins that are used that the site ultimately becomes sort of a custom CMS on it's own that only the developer really understands.... if that makes any sense.

    For someone like me who doesn't have the technical ability to create something from scratch, building off an existing CMS is really the only option available. It's probably not the best one though.
